MIDVAAL LIBRARIES FINE FREE WEEK 2021
In celebration of the South African National Library Week, (15-21 March 2021) library users will be able to return all overdue library items without paying a fine. Users are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to avoid penalty fees.
Library users are reminded that while no fines will be charged, previous fines will not be written off. This simply means that if you return currently overdue items, you will not be fined on those items.#LibrariesMatter!

Opening of Libraries
We are pleased to inform you that Midvaal Libraries is now opened. We request patrons to adhere to all the COVID-19 regulations by wearing a mask, sanitising and practising social distancing when visiting the library.
In response to the COVID -19 pandemic, we have established a book pick up service where users can remotely access the library catalogue online. The users will be able to select titles online and place request to the relevant library via email. The library staff on duty will fulfil the request s and communicate the dates and time for the collection with the user. E-Resources – Overdrive/Libby App
Midvaal Public library users can utilise our electronic resources to read e-books in the comfort of their own homes.
Library users can use their library cards to borrow e-books and audiobooks anywhere by using their smartphones, laptops or personal computers. It is a very simple process and all you have to do is the following:
- Download the Overdrive or Libby App (https://gauteng.overdrive.com/)
- Select your library (e.g. Midvaal)
- Enter your library card number which is found at the back of your card to sign in.
- Search for your desired e-book or audiobook
- There are different titles to choose from and users are allowed to borrow a maximum of 3 books at a time for 14 days. The digital books return itself so there are no late fees that will be charged.
- If you can’t find the title that you want, you can just recommend it.

E-Britannica is an online library service that caters for juniors, students and adults. It’s a service that has long been existing with reference, e-books, articles, images, videos.
SA Media Sabinet
SA Media is a Sabinet online database that provides articles that were previously published on the newspapers to the subscribers. It’s a reference database that archives old newspaper articles.
PressReader is an application that can be downloaded on your phone or tablets to view and download unlimited publications across the world so you can stay connected to the stories you love.
